Winter-Spring After School Enrichment

January 18, 2012

The After-School Enrichment (ASE) program at Beach by the Bay offers fun classes that build kids’ confidence and encourage their creativity and self-expression.  Our teachers are professionals with in-depth experience teaching children.  Sponsored by the Beach Parent Organization (BPO), this program is separate from Schoolmates and regular daily classes.  Due to our bussing schedule, we only will offer classes on Mondays, following the early dismissal time.  Classes will end in time for students to take the 3:10 bus to Piedmont.

Online Registration!

  • Register for ASE classes on-line at www.sportability.com/bpo.  It’s fast, easy and green, and lets you know immediately whether your child got into the class you selected.  All prices are the same regardless of how you register.
  • While BPO strongly prefers that everyone register on-line, if you are unable (because, for example, you have no internet access or no credit card), you can still register off-line.  Just complete a registration form and submit it along with a check made payable to “BPO” for all tuition and materials fees.  Completed forms and checks must be received by BPO before registration ends.  Please drop them in the ASE box in the Beach by the Bay School Office, or mail them to Beach Elementary School, Attn. ASE, 1275 61st Street, Emeryville, CA 94608.
  • Registration begins Tuesday, January 17th and ends Friday, January 27th.

Financial Assistance Scholarships

  • Financial assistance scholarships are available for families in need.  Please contact Beach Principal Dan Bonnin for more information.
  • Procedure:  Scholarship recipients cannot register on-line.  Please submit a completed registration form to the ASE box in the Beach by the Bay School office (or mail to the address above), indicating on the form that you are requesting a scholarship.  Your request will be submitted to Principal Bonnin for determination.  If the class you requested is not yet full, a space will be held for your child pending a decision on your scholarship request.
  • Donations to the ASE scholarship fund are welcome and greatly appreciated!  You can donate on-line during registration or by submitting a check payable to “BPO.”  Please indicate that your check is for the “ASE scholarship fund.”

Enrollment and Confirmation

  • Students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.  All the more reason to register early and on-line!
  • Classes with enrollment below the specified minimum may be cancelled.  You will be notified if your child’s class is cancelled.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

  • To cancel a registration, request a refund or transfer classes, you must contact Valerie Villanueva at valerievillanueva@yahoo.com or 415/279-3475.  You cannot cancel a registration, request a refund or transfer classes through our on-line registration provider.
  • All cancellations must be received at least 2 school days before the first day of class.  After this time no refunds will be given.
  • All requests for refunds are subject to a 10% processing fee except requests for refund made because BPO cancelled a class.  If BPO cancels a class, enrolled students will receive a full refund.

Class Information

  • Each class meets every Monday from February 6th through May 21st.
  • No classes will be held 2/20, 4/9, 4/30 due to school holidays and the 2012 Piedmont Relays.
  • Cancelled sessions will be made up on Monday, June 4th.

Beach Revue – Casting Call for Student Performers and Parent Volunteers

November 3, 2011

It’s that time of year again!  Time to sign up for the 44th annual Beach Revue “The Beach Traveling Road Show and Revue”! And this year is going to be an extra special show as we will perform in the lovely Alan Harvey Theatre at PHS.  Please register for the Revue using the attached links. New performers and new directors all warmly encouraged to participate! Late registrations will, of course, be taken, but early registration helps us to schedule rehearsal times and determine if we need to combine classes. Parents who are interested in directing or helping in other ways can sign up using the same links. Directors, please sign up or let one of the producers know of your interest by Friday, November 11th.

The Revue will be the weekend of March 23-24 with rehearsals beginning January 8.   All rehearsals this year will be on Sunday 11-6pm at Havens.

If you are new to Beach or the Beach Revue and want to learn more about what it’s all about, please see the Beach Revue Q&A or contact one of the producers. There is no sign up fee for participating in the Revue but parents will be asked for a donation to cover the cost of costumes and other supplies. Scholarships are available for families in need. Contact Dan Bonin for more information.

Sign up using the links below or, if you can’t sign up online, contact one of the producers.

A director’s meeting for 5th grade directors will be held at Karen Tellegen’s house on Mon. 11/14 at 7:30 pm. A meeting for K-4 grade directors will be held on Wed. 11/16 at 7:30 pm. Location TBD.

See you on stage,
